Dental Implants

A dental implant is a titanium post, which is surgically placed in to the jaw and functions as a replacement for your tooth root.

Once the dental implant has integrated with the bone, it can be used to replace a gap due to a missing tooth, via a crown or bridge restoration.

Implants can now be used to support loose dentures usually where there is a lack of bone to prevent denture movement. When dental implants are looked after correctly the cosmetic and functional results can be as good as natural teeth and can last for many years.

The insertion of the implant is a very skilled procedure, and for this reason we use a specialist implant surgeon, we have several colleagues who we refer to on a regular basis and we can discuss options with you at your appointment.

Implants can remove the need for dentures completely, and in many circumstances are better than placing bridges on natural teeth.
